Dermal Filler

Dermal fillers (like Versa®, Restylane®, RHA®, and others) restore volume, enhance facial contours, and smooth fine lines. Whether you’re looking to plump lips, define cheeks, or soften folds, this guide helps you prepare for a safe and smooth experience.

Preparation & Aftercare Guide

  • 1–2 Weeks Before:

    • Avoid blood-thinning agents: aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, St. John’s Wort (unless prescribed).

    • Pause alcohol consumption for at least 48 hours before your appointment to reduce bruising.

    • Inform us of any active skin infections, dental work, vaccinations, or recent illnesses.

    • Let us know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of cold sores (we may recommend a preventative antiviral).

    Day Of:

    • Arrive with a clean face — no makeup or skincare products.

    • Eat beforehand to avoid feeling lightheaded.

    • Come hydrated and relaxed — bruising risk is higher with stress or dehydration.

    • Most filler treatments take 30–60 minutes.

    • You may feel light pressure or a small pinch during the injection. Most fillers contain lidocaine, a numbing agent to enhance comfort.

    • Your provider may use a cannula or needle, depending on the treatment area and goals.

    • Expect instant volume with some mild swelling.

  • First 24 Hours:

    • Do NOT massage, rub, or press on the treated area unless instructed.

    • Avoid makeup over the injection sites.

    • No strenuous exercise, alcohol, or heat exposure (hot tubs, saunas, direct sun).

    • Use cool compresses gently if needed for swelling or discomfort.

    First 48–72 Hours:

    • Swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising is normal and temporary.

    • Sleep with your head elevated and avoid sleeping face-down.

    • Avoid facials, massages, or any treatments involving pressure on the face.

    Up to 2 Weeks:

    • Results will settle and refine over the first 7–14 days.

    • Follow up for any touch-ups if needed.

Top 5 Frequently Asked Questions About Dermal Fillers

How long do fillers last?

It depends on the type and location. Most fillers last 6–12 months, while others (like cheek or jawline fillers) can last up to 18–24 months.

Will I bruise or swell?

Mild swelling and bruising are common and usually resolve in a few days. We recommend following all pre- and post-care to reduce risk.

Can I see results right away?

Yes, you’ll see immediate volume, but final results appear as swelling subsides over 1–2 weeks.

Will I look overfilled or unnatural?

Not at Radiant Med Spa. Our injectors specialize in natural-looking enhancements that complement your unique features.

What if I don’t like the results?

Hyaluronic acid fillers (most common types) are reversible with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Let us know — your satisfaction and safety come first.
