Preparation & Aftercare Guide
-
To ensure the safest and most effective results, please follow these instructions:
2 Weeks Prior to Treatment:
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds.
Discontinue use of retinoids (Retin-A, Tretinoin) and topical acids (AHA, BHA, glycolic, etc.).
No waxing, electrolysis, or depilatory creams in the treatment area.
Avoid any cosmetic treatments (peels, lasers, or microneedling) on the area to be treated.
3 Days Prior to Treatment:
Avoid alcohol consumption (can increase risk of bruising).
Discontinue any products containing vitamin C, hydroquinone, or benzoyl peroxide unless otherwise instructed.
Hydrate! Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
On the Day of Treatment:
Arrive with a clean face – no makeup, moisturizer, sunscreen, or perfume.
Wear comfortable clothing, especially if the chest will be treated.
If you’re prone to cold sores, ask your provider about starting antiviral medication before treatment.
-
Your provider will assess your skin and select the proper settings for your skin type and concerns.
A topical numbing cream will be applied for comfort (typically 30 minutes).
The MOXI handpiece will glide across your skin delivering non-ablative laser energy.
You may feel a warm, prickling sensation – most clients rate discomfort as very mild.
The treatment typically lasts 15–30 minutes, depending on the area.
-
Expect mild redness and a rough texture as your skin rejuvenates. Here’s how to take care of your skin post-treatment:
Immediately After Treatment:
Skin may appear red (similar to a mild sunburn) for 1–3 days.
Avoid touching or picking the skin as this can cause hypopigmentation.
Use only gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and broad-spectrum SPF 30+.
Avoid makeup for 24 hours.
Days 2–5:
Your skin will feel dry and sandpaper-like as “MENDS” (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) work their way out.
Keep skin moisturized and protected from the sun.
Do not exfoliate or use active skincare until fully healed.
Days 5–7:
Shedding should resolve and reveal brighter, clearer, smoother skin.
Resume normal skincare only after your provider confirms you’re ready.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is MOXI and how does it work?
MOXI is a non-ablative fractional laser designed to revitalize skin by stimulating collagen and improving texture, tone, and pigmentation. It targets water in the skin, heating tissue to trigger regeneration without damaging the surface.
What skin concerns does MOXI treat?
MOXI is ideal for treating sun damage, uneven pigmentation, early signs of aging, and for maintaining youthful skin. It’s safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types, making it a great year-round treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
Most patients see noticeable results after just 1 treatment, but a series of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart provides the best outcomes for long-term skin health and glow.
Is there any downtime?
MOXI is known as a “lunchtime laser” because it has minimal downtime. You may experience redness and rough texture for a few days, but most clients can return to work or normal activities the next day.
Can I combine MOXI with other treatments?
Yes! MOXI pairs beautifully with BBL (BroadBand Light) and other aesthetic services. Your provider can help design a customized plan based on your skin.
