Lip Filler

Preparation & Aftercare Guide

  • Consultation: You’ll have a meeting with your practitioner to discuss your goals and any medical history that might affect the procedure. This is the time to ask questions and address any concerns.

Avoid Certain Medications: A few days before your appointment, you might be advised to avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain supplements like fish oil and vitamin E, as these can increase bruising.

No Alcohol: It’s often recommended to avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your procedure to minimize the risk of bruising.

  • Preparation: The practitioner will cleanse your lips and surrounding area to prevent infection. A topical numbing cream may be applied to reduce discomfort.

Injection: Using a fine needle, the practitioner injects the filler into targeted areas. You might feel slight pressure or a pinch, but it should be relatively painless due to the anesthetic.

Smoothing and Shaping: The practitioner may massage your lips gently to ensure even distribution of the filler and achieve a natural look.

  • Immediate Effects: Your lips will likely be swollen and possibly red or bruised right after treatment. These effects are normal and temporary.

Aftercare: You’ll receive specific aftercare instructions, such as avoiding touching or applying makeup to your lips for a day, staying hydrated, and avoiding extreme heat and cold.

Downtime: There’s minimal downtime, and most people can resume normal activities immediately. However, it’s wise to refrain from strenuous activities or exercises that might increase swelling for 24-48 hours.

Follow-Up: Any initial side effects usually resolve within two weeks. A follow-up appointment may be scheduled to assess the results and discuss any further enhancements if desired.

Enjoy the Results: Once the swelling subsides, you’ll start to see the final results, which should enhance your lips' shape and volume size.
